Fire Retardancy
The fire retardancy of foam materials is an important consideration when specifying a foam material. There are many different fire retardancy requirements. Some of the most common specifications are: FMVSS-302 (automotive interion), UL 94 (appliance and some commercial uses), and California 117 (furniture). Fire retardant foams are more costly and costs vary depending upon the requirement. There are also specialized fire retardant systems used such as non-halogenated fire retardants required by some office furniture applications.
